BPE visits ntel’s office, lauds network quality

Acting Director General of the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE), Dr. Vincent Onome Akpotaire, and his management team have lauded new telecom company, ntel, on its network roll out and the strides it has made in providing employment for hundreds of Nigerians.

Speaking during a monitoring visit to ntel’s office in Lagos on Wednesday June 15, 2016, Dr. Akpotaire, who led a large delegation of its senior management said “we are pleasantly surprised with the things we have seen.

We are also glad that the BPE was a part of this. We came with a large delegation because we wanted to review your operations and see things for ourselves because when the hard questions are asked we are always in the firing line.

Dr. Akpotaire also commended the management of ntel and their Chairman noting that the emergence of ntel via a guided liquidation process that threw up NatCom as preferred bidder is “an example of a partnership that works. We want to say a big congratulations on the roll out and even though we know there are challenges we are confident that those challenges will be overcome.

Earlier in his welcome address, Dr. Tunde Ayeni of ntel told the BPE team that “ntel is live in Lagos and is taking delivery, at the ports, of equipment needed to get Port Harcourt on the coverage map before spreading to others states like Ogun, Oyo and the rest of them.

Akpataire and other members of the BPE management team were led on a monitoring tour of their facilities and newly opened Ikoyi shop by the chairman of ntel, Dr Tunde Ayeni, Director of External Affairs, Osondu Nwokoro, GM Fixed network engineering, Dammie Olarinde and other members of staff.

Nkechi Newton-Denila, Director, Legal at ntel who stood in for Kamar Abass, CEO of ntel, summarized the giant strides made so far by ntel. According to her “at the end of our reserve your number campaign, we recorded over 50,000 pre-orders and today we are providing happy Nigerians with superfast data and crystal clear voice services with sales points at ntel shops and DP outlets.”
